Couple tied up and shot in basement of Brandon home

Brandon Police have three suspects in custody after a man called them just before 5;30 am on Monday, October 8, 2018, and reported that he had been held against his will at a home on Princess Avenue. He told police that although he was able to escape his girlfriend was still being held.

The victim told police that the suspects had accused the man and woman of stealing from them and forced them into the basement and tied them up. The female was then shot several times with a pellet gun. The male victim was shot in the stomach with a .22 calibre blank round causing minor injuries. He was also hit with a mallet.

When police arrived at the home a 25-year-old male was exiting. He was arrested and taken into custody. Police found a pellet pistol tucked in his pants.

When officers got inside the residence they located the female victim in the basement still tied up.

Two other suspects were located by police in the 200 block of 18th Street North.

A 24-year-old male and a 37-year-old female were arrested and charged with Forcible Confinement, Aggravated Assault, Utter Threats, Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Possess Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possess Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Use a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence and Assault with a Weapon.

The 25-year-old was charged with Possession of a Dangerous Weapon.

All three suspects were detained in custody.
