Suspect steals smokes, assaults store employees
Between mid August 2016 and March 2017 a male suspect continually knocked off grocery stores around the city stealing cigarettes and often assaulting store owners and employees.
His first theft happened on August 14, 2016 in the 700 block of Maryland. Two weeks later he hit a store on Carlton Street assaulting the store owner causing the owner to need hospital treatment.
He was quiet for a few months then on February 10, 2017 the suspect entered a store on Mountain Avenue. He assaulted an employee and stole a quantity of cigarettes.
On February 19, 2017 he hit the same business on Mountain Street again. This time though he assaulted an employee while holding a knife. He got away with cigarettes and merchandise.
On March 7, 2017 police finally were able to nab the suspect after he robbed a business in the 700 block of Corydon Avenue. While he was robbing the store he threatened to harm the customers and staff. He took off but police were quick to the scene and located the suspect in a stolen F350 pickup.
During the arrest the suspect became combative with police and as a result an officer suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Frankie Patrick LANDON, 39 from Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences for his alleged involvement:

Assault with a Weapon
Possession of a Weapon
Utter Threats
Possession of Goods Obtained by Crime over $5,000
Resisting Arrest
Assault Police Officer
Warrant Robbery, Possession of a Weapon
Warrant Failing to Appear in Court
Warrant – Failing to Comply with Recognizance x 2
Fail to Comply with Recognizance x 2
