Cops stop break-in crime spree, arrest two

Winnipeg Police has arrested and charged two men for a serious of break-ins over the last six months.

Police say that between January 7 and June 18, 2019, the suspects were allegedly involved in 16 break-ins and made off with about $100,000 in cash. The suspects also caused more than $100,000 in damage to the buildings they targeted.

Just after 1:00 am this morning, June 19, 2019, officers with the Major Crime Unit arrested a male suspect as he was breaking into a business on Lagimodiere Boulevard.

A second suspect was also arrested nearby.

42-year-old Cary Scott Preston from Arnes, Manitoba is facing charges for his alleged involvement of Break Enter & Commit – Place (x5), Break Enter & Theft – Place (x9), Break & Enter with Intent – Place, Disguise with Intent (x3), Possession of Break In Instrument(s), Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment.

The other suspect, an unnamed 56-year-old male from Winnipeg has been charged with two counts of Break Enter & Commit Place.

Preston was detained in custody the other male was released on a promise to appear in court.
