Police were on the lookout for criminals breaking into cars in the downtown area over the weekend.
On Saturday almost a dozen vehicles were broken into and property stolen.
The following vehicles were broken into while parked in the area of Waterfront Drive and James Avenue:
- Subaru SUV – window smashed, purse and contents stolen.
- Toyota Camry – windows smashed, money stolen.
- Dodge Ram – window smashed, money stolen.
- Chevrolet Sonic – window damaged, money stolen.
The following vehicles were broken into while parked in the 100 block of Fort Street:
- Toyota Camry – window smashed, lock damaged, money stolen.
- Toyota Corolla – window smashed, money stolen.
- Honda Civic – window smashed, camera and money stolen.
- Nissan Maxima – lock damaged, money stolen.
- Ford Focus – window smashed, money stolen.
- Chevrolet Cavalier – door damaged, backpack containing various electronics stolen.
- Honda Civic – window smashed, money stolen.
Just after midnight Sunday morning, members of the Winnipeg Police Service observed a male breaking into a vehicle on Fort Street. The man was busted and found to be in possession of stolen property.
David MOODIE, 42 years old of Winnipeg has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement:
Theft Under $5000 x 11
Mischief Under $5000.00 x 11
Possession of a Weapon
Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
