Copper Wire Theft Causes Power Outage –

Thieves made off with copper wire from a sub-station in the Richer area in the early morning hours of Tuesday.  Hydro figured something was up when they started receiving service calls in the area and discovered the theft.

1200 customers in the St Anne and Richer areas had their power shut off for a couple of hours so that hydro crews could safely repair the damage the thieves left.

This kind of theft is not uncommon in southern Manitoba as hydro has seen this happen many times over the past few years.
