Convicted sex offender expected to live in Winnipeg after release

Manitoba’s Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit released information about a convicted sex offender who is considered a high risk to reoffend against both adult and youth females in a sexual / violent manner.

29-year-old Curtis Leroy George was released from Headingley Correction Centre on January 7, 2021, after serving a sentence for failing to comply with conditions od a probation order.

Police say that George is expected to live in Winnipeg.

George has a long criminal record that includes five counts of sexual assault, sexual interference, six counts of assault, criminal harassment and a number of breaches to his recognizance and probation orders.

As part of his release conditions until 2024 George is not permitted to go to Portage Place, City Place or the City Place Parkade, Bell MTS Centre or the skywalk that connects those buildings. He must participate in sexual offender counselling as directed and supervised by his probation officer. He is also not allowed to be within 10 metres of 345 Graham Avenue.

George is also not allowed to go to a public park or public swimming area where people under 16 could possibly be present, or a day care centre, school ground, playground or community centre.
