RCMP are investigating the death of a construction worker in the RM of Springfield.
Police say that on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, they were called to the scene of a trapped worker on Hillside Road.
Construction workers were digging a trench when the walls collapsed trapping a 39-year-old male.
Emergency personnel from the surrounding areas, along with the RM of Springfield Fire Department and a specialized team with the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, were called to the scene to assist and worked for several hours trying to rescue the worker.
Emergency crews located the worker around 9:30 am on Thursday, May 7, 2020. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
RCMP and Manitoba Workplace Health and Safety continue to investigate.
