Community complaints prompt drug investigation

Winnipeg Police Service Central District Community Support Unit (CSU)began a drug investigation following a number of community complaints about drug activity at a home in the Spence neighbourhood.

On January 6, 2024, officers from the CSU and Guns and Gangs Unit executed a search warrant at a home in the 500 block of Furby Street. Several individuals were taken into custody, say police.

Officers seized crack cocaine along with drug trafficking paraphernalia and a BB firearm.

David Francis Amoyotte, 39, of Winnipeg was charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Weapon

Police say that the other people taken into custody were released without charges.
