Two Manitobans are dead in two separate collisions over a 25 hour period.
Highway 59
RCMP were called to a collision on Highway 59 about two kilometres north of Roseau River Monday morning, January 4, 2021
Police say the 64-year-old driver of a semi collided with a farm tractor. The tractor was pushed off the highway into a wooded area. The semi also left the road and its trailer rolled onto its side.
Police say the semi driver indicated that he did not see the tractor on the highway.
The 72-year-old driving the tractor was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver was not injured.
Police say alcohol and speed are not factors in the collision.
Highway 9
The second fatal collision happened on Tuesday morning around 8:20 am on Highway 9 at Donald Road in the RM of St. Andrews.
Police say that a northbound vehicle hit a pedestrian walking in lane of traffic.
The 68-year-old male victim from the RM of St. Andrews was taken to hospital but died from his injuries. The 47-year-old driver was not injured.
Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the collision.
RCMP continue to investigate both collisions.
