COLLISION | WINNIPEG POLICE OFFICER DEAD IN GARVEN ROAD ACCIDENT

Winnipeg Police constable Trent Milan died Monday morning, October 3, 2016 in a two vehicle collision on Garven road just north of Winnipeg.

Milan, an 18 year veteran of the Winnipeg Police Service was facing 34 criminal and professional charges, including drug, weapon and breach of trust after he was arrested in September of this year.

A credible source told News4 that they believe Milan took his own life due to the serious charges he was facing.

Police began an investigation into Milan after discrepancies were discovered relating to evidence dating back to 2010 when Milan was a member of the street crime unit.

RCMP are investigating the collision and anticipate Garven Road to be closed most of the day.
