A serious motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Henderson Highway, leading to critical injuries. The incident took place in the 1000 block of Henderson Highway at approximately 7:15 p.m. on April 18, 2024, according to the Winnipeg Police Service.
The Traffic Division, upon arrival at the scene, was informed by the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service that the pedestrian had been rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The pedestrian, a 33-year-old woman from Winnipeg, is currently in the hospital in serious condition.
The Traffic Collision Investigation Unit, after conducting a thorough investigation, determined that the pedestrian had walked in front of a northbound tractor-trailer when she was struck. The collision resulted in serious injuries to the pedestrian. The driver of the tractor-trailer, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigating officers.
The Winnipeg Police Service is urging anyone with information or footage related to the incident, including dash camera video, to come forward.
