A serious motor vehicle collision occurred at approximately 4:46 p.m. at the intersection of Centreport and the Perimeter Highway, involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck trailer. The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) responded to the scene, where members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) were already present.
The incident began when an RCMP officer activated emergency equipment and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Shortly thereafter, the vehicle collided with the semi-truck trailer.
A 26-year-old woman from Winnipeg was transported to the hospital by the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries.
The WPS Traffic Division’s Collision Investigation Section is assisting the Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) in investigating the matter. Authorities are urging anyone with information, including video or dash camera footage, to contact the IIU.
