As we begin our annual Christmas celebrations, albeit in an unusually subdued way, there are a number of facilities and services that will be closed in Winnipeg.
All government offices, including the City of Winnipeg, Province of Manitoba and Government of Canada will be closed on December 25, December 28 (in lieu of Boxing Day) and January 1, 2021.
Manitoba Liquor Marts will close at 6:00 pm on December 24 and reopen on Boxing Day (Dec 26) with reduced hours 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. The True North Square location will be closed on Dec 26.
Malls will have shortened hours on December 24, be closed Dec 25 and reopen on December 26 with reduced hours as follows:
Grant Park – closes at 4:00 pm Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Boxing Day. On New Year’s Eve (Dec 31) the mall will close at 4:00 pm and will be closed on January 1, 2021.
Polo Park – closes at 4:00 pm Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, 10:00 am to 7:00 pm on Boxing Day. On New Year’s Eve (Dec 31) the mall will close at 4:00 pm and will be closed on January 1, 2021.
St. Vital – closes at 5:00 pm Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Boxing Day. On New Year’s Eve (Dec 31) the mall will close at 5:00 pm and will be closed on January 1, 2021.
Garden City – closes at 5:00 pm Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on Boxing Day. On New Year’s Eve (Dec 31) the mall will close at 5:00 pm and will be closed on January 1, 2021.
Kildonan Place – closes at 4:00 pm Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on Boxing Day. On New Year’s Eve (Dec 31) the mall will close at 4:00 pm and will be closed on January 1, 2021.
Outlet Collection – closes at 5:00 pm Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm on Boxing Day. On New Year’s Eve (Dec 31) the mall will close at 5:00 pm and will be closed on January 1, 2021.
Libraries will be closed on Christmas Day, Dec 28 (in lieu of Boxing Day) and January 1, 2021.
There will be no garbage pick-up on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. If your collection day is Friday the city says to place your bin out for collection on December 26 and January 2.
The Brady Road Landfill site will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. On December 28 it will be open 5:30 am to 6:00 pm.
The 4R recycling depots at Brady Road, Pacific and Panet will be open December 28 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
The following facilities remain closed due to COVID-19 restrictions
- Assiniboine Park Zoo
- Canadian Museum for Human Rights
- Manitoba Museum
- Cineplex and Landmark cinemas
- Casinos and Gaming Centres
A number of outdoor facilities such a skating rinks and ski hills will be open during the holidays under COVID-19 restrictions.
