RCMP have arrested and charged a 51-year-old male from the RM of Rockwood after he was caught speeding on Highway 7.
Around 1:00 am on Tuesday July 14, 2020 officers spotted the vehicle speeding in the RM of Rockwood. When officers eventually caught up to the driver he was seen going 172 km/h in a 50 km/h zone near Baymoral, Manitoba.

As police pulled up the male got to of the vehicle and told officers he had been kidnapped and that the driver had fled into the nearby bushes.
Police at the scene proved that account to be a lie.
The male was charged for his alleged involvement with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He will also be facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act for Driving while disqualified, Driving an unregistered vehicle and speeding.
RCMP are continuing to investigate.
