CITY | WINNIPEG POLICE HAVE A NEW CHIEF OF POLICE

After the retirement of Devon Clunis as Chief of Police this past summer the Winnipeg Police Board began a nation wide search for a new head of the organization.

Many candidates were interviewed but it turns out the selection committee didn’t have to look very far to find their new chief. Deputy Chief Danny Smyth has been selected to replace Clunis.

The official swearing in ceremony will be a public event on November 8th.

Smyth was born and raised in Winnipeg and has been on the force for more than 30 years. he was the first chief to be selected by the police board.
