The City of Winnipeg is opening most of its spray pads to help beat the extreme heat forecast for the next few days.
On Wednesday June 2, the province amended public health orders related to COVID-19 to allow pools and spray pads to open to allow people to cool off.
The city says that the spray pads will be monitored by Community Service Ambassadors. All restrictions regarding gatherings and physical distancing remain in effect while using spray pads. Users are asked to limit their use to a maximum of 30 minutes at a time.
The following spray pads will open beginning June 3 and be open daily between noon and 8:00 pm:
Central Park | River Heights |
Fort Rouge | St. Norbert |
Freight House | Shaughnessy |
Gateway | St. James Assiniboia Centennial Pool |
Jill Officer Park | Sturgeon Heights |
Lindenwoods | Valley Gardens |
Lindsey Wilson Park | Vimy Ridge Memorial Park |
Machray Park | Waverley Heights |
Provencher Park | Westdale |
Park City West | West Kildonan |
According to the city the spray pads will not be sanitized and on-site washrooms will not be available.
City-owned outdoor pools and wading pools will not be opened at this time.
