City of Winnipeg employee tests positive for COVID-19

On Wednesday, September 2, 2020, the City of Winnipeg announced that one of their employees tested positive for COVID-19.

The employee, a member of the Public Works Department, does not have a public-facing job according to the city and works in an area not accessible to the public.

The employee is at home self-isolating.

Coworkers who may have come in contact with the employee and a high risk to exposure were sent home and told to get tested for COVID-19 then self-isolate.

The city has implemented enhanced cleaning protocols to the area and equipment the employee may have come in contact with.

Last week the city mandated that masks be worn in all city-operated facilities and vehicles including on Winnipeg Transit and Winnipeg Transit Plus.
