Happy day for Winnipeg condo developer.
Finally after being rejected by various sub-committees over plans to construct a twelve unit building at McMillian and Harrow Street city council voted 11-5 in favour of the project.
In November City Centre community committee rejected the project as not reflective of the buildings in the area. The proposal was rejected a second and then a third time by the planning, property and development committee then by executive policy committee.
A number of accusations flew back and forth between the developers, Ventura Developments and councillor John Orlikow in the sub-committee meetings. Orlikow, who lives two blocks from the proposed development and is the chair of the property committee was quite vocal over the public lobbying efforts by the developer.
The approval of council means the project can move forward and the developer can begin construction.
