Manitoba First Nations Police Service responded to a tragic accident involving a child on Tuesday, August 18, 2020.
Police say that around 6:30 pm they were called to a home in the community. When they arrived they saw an emergency medical crew trying to save the life of a 21 month old child who had been hit by a vehicle.
An initial investigation by officers indicates that the child had walked behind the vehicle while it was backing out of the driveway of the home when they were struck.
The child was rushed to the hospital in Portage la Prairie but did not survive their injuries and was pronounced dead.
Police continue to investigate.
