Winnipeg Police were tipped off in June of this year about child sexual abuse images being uploaded to an internet chat room.  The upload was identified and reported to police by the chat room administrators. The IP address indicated that the user uploaded the pictures from Winnipeg.

The Winnipeg Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) started an investigation and identified a residence and suspect in the St. James area of the city.
   
On Wednesday November 2, 2016, police executed a search warrant at a residence. Investigators did a initial forensic review of a desktop computer within the home and found images od a sexual nature involving toddlers.
   
Further forensic analysis is being undertaken and the investigation is continuing.
   
A 45 year old male has been charged for his alleged involvement with Possession of Child Pornography and Imports, Distributes, Sells or Possesses for the Purpose of Distribution or Sale any Child Pornography.
   
He was remanded into custody.
