Winnipeg Police have charged a 20-year-old female with Manslaughter in connection to the death of a two and a half-year-old boy.
Police say that on March 24, 2020, paramedics responded to a report of an injured child at a home on Snowdon Avenue. The toddler was taken to hospital in critical condition.
Police say that the Child Abuse Unit got involved when the explanation for what happened was not consistent with the boy’s injuries.
The child, identified as Brett White died from his injuries two days later.
On April 3, 2020, following an investigation Victoria Reane Thiessen, the child’s step-mother, was arrested and charged for her alleged involvement in his death.
She was detained in custody.
