CHARLESWOOD AREA SCHOOL CLOSING AFTER 100 YEARS

Chapman School is closing its doors after more than 100 years serving the community of Charleswood.

In 2016 there are only 51 students registered in the school and parents have requested that their kids be moved to nearby  Royal School next year.

Under legislation school closures must be approved by the provincial government and that happened Thursday.

The building will be leased to Westgate Mennonite Collegiate next year while they renovate their existing facility. A daycare that operates in the school will also continue to operate for now.

It is not know what will happen to the property in the long run but there is a process in place and provincial regulations that have to be followed.
