Charges laid in fatal snowmobile collision

RCMP laid charges related to a fatal snowmobile collision that occurred on January 1, 2021, in Pauingassi First Nation.

RCMP investigating fatal snowmobile collision

A snowmobile with two riders, who were not wearing helmets, collided with a fishing boat on shore causing both riders to be thrown from the machine. A 20-year-old female and a 24-year-old male were both seriously injured and taken to the nursing station. The female did not survive her injuries.

Investigators have charged Lyle Owen from Pauingassi First Nation for his alleged involvement with Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired Causing Death and Fail to Comply with Undertaking Condition.

Owen was released pending a court date.
