As COVID number continue to grow out of control, the province’s enforcement numbers remain somewhat flat – with one notable exception.

A court information has been filed that includes seven public health charges against a Manitoba business.  The business is accused of repeatedly refusing to follow public health orders.  If convicted, the fine would be set by the court – and theoretically, it could be as high as $1 million.

The province announced the laying of the information in their COVID update news release today, January 12, 2022.  The province did not name the business facing the legal action.

Last week, a total of 31 warnings and 33 tickets were issued.  Thirty of them were $298 tickets to individuals for not wearing a mask in an indoor public place. There was also one $1,296 ticket to an individual, and one $8,550 ticket for someone related to the federal Quarantine Act.

The province said 25 of the tickets issues in the Southern Health region, and the remaining eight were handed out in Winnipeg.
