Winnipeg Police have arrested a 23-year-old male after he was allegedly seen removing a handgun from a bag in the food court at CF Polo Park mall on Monday June 14, 2021.
According to investigators the accused was at the mall around 3:00pm when he showed the weapon to another person before returning it to the bag and leaving the mall.
No one was threatened in the mall but security provided a description to police. The suspect was located by officers near Portage Avenue and Tylehurst Street where he was taken into custody. The weapon was seized.
Police determined that the firearm was a CO2-powered BB pistol that was designed to look like a Beretta model APX.
The suspect has been charged for his alleged involvement with Possession of a weapon and was released on an Appearance Notice.
