Charges laid after male freaks out in Police HQ

A 27-year-old male was arrested on Friday evening, January 21, 2022, after he entered Winnipeg Police Service Headquarters and after acting erratically pulled a knife on officers.

Police say the incident began around 5:15 pm the male had entered the front vestibule of the building and began punching and kicking various doors and windows. He then pushed a panic button which set off an alarm in the building. Police say he then aggressively brandished a knife while looking at officers.

The male was safely taken into custody and police believe that Methamphetamine use place a role in the incident.

The male was charged with possession of a weapon and released on an appearance notice as mandated by the Criminal Code of Canada.
