As News 4 previously told you, on December 14, 2017, Winnipeg Police Service officers responded to a call about an injured male in the 100 block of Hargrave Street.
The male victim was suffering from a serious gunshot wound to his lower body. At the time officers applied a tactical tourniquet to stabilize the victim until paramedics arrived. The male was taken to hospital in critical condition.
Police also found a 21-year-old female suffering minor injuries. she was taken to hospital in stable condition.

As the investigation into the shooting unfolded officers learned that the injured female was one of two suspects involved in the shooting
According to police, the victim was socializing with two people when an argument broke out. As the argument escalated the two suspects armed themselves with a shotgun and fired it at the suspect.
Police were able to find the gun hidden around Hargrave Street and St. Mary Avenue. The sawed-off 12 guage shotgun had been reported stolen in 1998.
Just after noon on Friday, December 29, 2017, the second suspect in the shooting was taken into custody inside a sute in the 100 block of Hargrave Street.
Serenity Georgia Contois, 21 from Winnipeg, was charged for her alleged involvement with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Discharge a Firearm with Intent
- Possession of a Weapon
Deon Lam, 34 from Grand Rapids, has been charged for his alleged involvement with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Discharge a Firearm with Intent
- Possession of a Weapon
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime
Both were detained in custody.
