Winnipeg Police Child Abuse Unit have arrested and charged 35-year-old Guillaume Meisterhans for sexual assault and sexual interference involving two 7-year-old children he was mentoring.
Police say that they began an investigation after allegations came to light in April of 2018. Between April 27, 2017, and April 2, 2018, the suspect was a volunteer with Child and Family Services Winnipeg acting as a mentor. During that time the accused allegedly took the 7-year-old victim to his residence at least five times where “acts deemed to be Sexual Assault and Sexual Interference were performed.”
The suspect turned himself in to police on July 21, 2018, and was charged.
During the investigation, investigators learned of another incident involving a 7-year-old that happened in 2014. During this period of time, the accused was working as a mentor for a non-profit youth mentoring program. On three separate occasions, the accused is alleged to have interacted with the youth in a sexual manner.
Charges for the 2014 incidents were laid on November 10, 2018.
