On October 15, 2024, at approximately 4:06 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a stabbing in the 100 block of Dumoulin Street. East District General Patrol Officers arrived at the scene and found a 24-year-old male victim with life-threatening injuries to his upper body. Officers provided emergency medical care, including a life-saving chest seal, before the victim was transported to the hospital in unstable condition. He has since been upgraded to stable condition but remains hospitalized. The initial investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were together at Orange Park, near the intersection of St. Joseph Avenue and Notre Dame Street, when a physical altercation escalated, resulting in the victim being stabbed several times. The suspect fled the area before police arrived. The weapon used in the assault was located and seized by police. The suspect is described as an Indigenous male, between 20-25 years old, approximately 5’5″ in height, with long black hair worn in a ponytail, and wearing a dark hoodie and khaki pants. Central District General Patrol officers arrived at the scene and found a 40-year-old woman and her 16-year-old daughter with injuries from an edged weapon. The investigation revealed that three suspects on the bus initiated an unprovoked argument with the victims, which escalated to an assault involving an edged weapon. The suspects fled the area before police arrived. During the incident, the victims were also robbed of their personal belongings. Both victims were transported to the hospital, treated for their injuries, and subsequently released. The suspects are described as follows: The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and is working to update the description of the suspects. No arrests have been made at this time.
