Cat rescued from Young Street apartment fire

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a fire in a Young Street apartment building on Sunday morning, July 12, 2020.

Just after 7:45 am firefighters arrived on scene and were met with heavy smoke coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched with the fire being brought under control about 30 minutes later.

Building residents were evacuated and crews confirmed there was no one in the suite where the fire had originated.

A cat was found at the scene of the fire and handed over to animal services.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Residents were able to return to their suites after crews had ventilated the building.
