Winnipeg police have arrested and charged a 34-year-old male in connection to a carjacking on Monday, May 2, 2022.
As News 4 previously reported the suspect had approached a group of people outside a convenience store in the 700 block of Corydon Avenue and demanded keys to the vehicle. The suspect then allegedly assaulted the driver causing minor injuries before stealing a Mercedes C300 4Matic and fleeing.
On Tuesday afternoon an off-duty police officer spotted the stolen vehicle driving in the Glenwood area and called for back-up.
The driver was taken into custody and identified as the same person who had stolen the vehicle the day before.
The accused has been charged for his alleged involvement with Robbery and Drive Disqualified. He was released on an undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
