Carjacking suspect busted after month-long investigation

Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged a 28-year-old male in connection to several carjacking incidents on May 21, 2019.

Police say that around 10:30 am near McPhillips Street and Leila Avenue the suspect allegedly approached two people while holding a weapon and attempted to steal their vehicle. He was unsuccessful.

A few minutes lated he tried tried to steal the vehicle of another victim. He once again approached the victim while brandishing the weapon and demanded the keys to the vehicle. The suspect was again unsuccessful.

Success for the suspect came after the third attempt. This time he approached an adult and a youth and while holding the weapon he demanded the vehicle keys. One in possession of the keys the suspect fled in the victim’s vehicle.

Police say that none of the victims were physically harmed.

Investigators were able to use surveillance vide to identify the suspect.

On Saturday June 22, 2019 Harry Bitten was arrested and charged for his alleged involvement with three counts of Robbery and Possession of a Weapon

He was detained in custody.
