Carjacker behind bars after assaulting victim

A 19-year-old male has been detained in custody after police caught him behind the wheel of the vehicle he allegedly carjacked Wednesday morning, August 21, 2019.

Police say that Adrian Eliazer Murdock approached a 27-year-old male seated in his vehicle at a gas station on Keewatin Street, opened his door and ordered him out of the vehicle. When the victim refused the suspect pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the man and demanded his keys.

The suspect then hit the victim in the upper body forcing the victim to exit the vehicle. The suspect then stole the victim’s vehicle and drove off.

The victim was taken to hospital, treated and released.

Wednesday evening around 8:25 pm police located the suspect in the victim’s vehicle near Redwood and Aikins Street. The suspect jumped out of the vehicle when he spotted police and tried to flee the area but was quickly captured and placed under arrest.

Murdock is facing charges for his alleged involvement including:

  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
  • Armed Robbery Using a Firearm
  • Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
