A 30-year-old Winnipeg woman is facing multiple charges after an attempted carjacking in the city’s North End on Sunday afternoon.
Winnipeg Police Service officers responded to a call at approximately 4:00 p.m. on March 9, 2025, in the area of McPhillips Street and Inkster Boulevard, regarding a reported armed carjacking. Upon arrival, officers found both the victim, a woman in her 50s, and the suspect still at the scene.
According to police reports, the victim had offered a ride to the suspect near Ashern, Manitoba, while driving into Winnipeg. Upon reaching the intersection of McPhillips and Inkster, the suspect, who was a passenger in the vehicle, brandished what appeared to be a handgun and attempted to steal the vehicle.
Police quickly apprehended the suspect. It was later determined that the firearm used in the attempted robbery was a pellet gun. The victim was unharmed and did not require medical attention.
The Winnipeg Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation. Roberta Mary Woodhouse, 30, of Winnipeg, has been charged for her alleged involvement with robbery, possession of a weapon, and use of an imitation firearm during the commission of an indictable offence. She has been detained in custody.
