Female passenger carjacks taxi, sprays driver with bear spray

A 21-year-old female is behind bars after she allegedly attacked a taxi driver while carjacking him.

It happened around 2:10 am Monday, November 26, 2019, on McPhillips Street.

According to police accounts of the incident, the female produced a can of bear spray shortly after entering the cab and sprayed the driver.

The suspect then took off in the stolen taxi. The driver made his way to Seven Oaks Hospital, which was nearby, to seek treatment.

Just 15 minutes later police found the stolen cab near Redwood Avenue and Salter Street. The vehicle had collided with a tree but the driver had fled.

Officers searched the area and found the suspect near Mountain and Salter.

Police have charged the accused with Robbery, Possession of a Weapon and Breach of Recognizance.
