[jaw_quote author=”- Sgt. Mark Hume, RCMP Manitoba West Traffic Services Unit Commander” ]Drivers absolutely need to be alert when on the road, and especially at intersections. We could have had two more deaths last night[/jaw_quote][jaw_clear]
Both the driver and a 16-year-old passenger of the pickup had to be extricated from the vehicle. Police say they were both taken to the hospital and are suffering non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the semi was not hurt.
Over the past couple of weeks, there have been six deaths in Manitoba at intersections with Highway 1. RCMP are reminding drivers that when approaching an intersection, slow down, drive defensively and ensure your path is clear before you proceed. They also say to leave lots of room between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you to allow for sudden stops.
