Police say car that hit a Winnipeg Transit bus on Osborne St. was stolen

Early Friday morning, January 5, 2017, a Winnipeg Transit bus and a compact car were involved in a serious collision on Osborne Street between Carlaw and Brandon Avenues.

The impact was severe and the driver of the car was taken to hospital in critical condition by paramedics. The driver of the bus was uninjured and there were no passengers on the bus at the time of the crash

Police had Osborne Street closed in both directions for several hours as they investigated the collision.

Investigators say that it appears that the car travelling southbound veered into the front of the bus. Police say that the car had been stolen from Pembina Highway location shortly before the crash.

The driver, in his 20s, remains in critical condition.
