CANADA DAY | WHAT TO DO IN WINNIPEG

HAPPY 149th BIRTHDAY CANADA!

If you are like the staff at News4  you are probably looking for things to do this Canada Day long weekend.  We hear from Environment Canada that the weather will be sunny and +25 for both July 1st and 2nd. We’ve complied a family friendly list of things to do this Canada Day weekend so why not get out there and have some fun in the sun.

LIVING FLAG – July 1, 9:00am

Location: Shaw Park

Join thousands of others to become part of the world’s largest living flag. (remember to wear red or white)

Osborne Village Canada Day Street Celebration

June 30 7pm-11pm, July 1 & 2  11am-11pm

Join the party atmosphere at Winnipeg’s largest and longest running street festival

FORKS – July 1, all day – 

Live music on two stages, lots of kid activities and fireworks… one of the best places to celebrate Canada Day in the country.

ASSINIBOINE PARK – JULY 1, all day – Fireworks @ 10:40pm

A favorite of many Winnipegers, Assiniboine Park has activities to keep the whole family busy on Canada Day.

For example  a family zone that will feature a large petting zoo, inflatable bouncing structures, a giant pirate ship slide, a giant hamster ball obstacle course and kids entertainers, food courts.

The day ends with a spectacular fireworks show that will excite your whole family.

Not enough to do yet?  Ok here are a few other things that might peak your interest.

OAK HAMMOCK MARSH – JULY 1, all day

There is always lots to see and do at the marsh but on Canada Day they add to their unique style of entertainment and education. There wil be horse-drawn wagon rides around the marsh and guided canoe adventures through the wetlands, story tellers and activities.

FORT WHITE ALIVE – JULY1 – 10am to 4pm

Walk the trails, watch the bison or canoe on the lake, it’s a great way to chill and enjoy a more laid back experience.

LUXTON COMMUNITY CENTRE – July 1, 4pm

Luxton Community Centre will be celebrating Canada Day this July 1st!! Planned activities for children, youth and adults will begin at 4 PM and will continue right up until the fireworks at dusk.

Some of the activities will include a live band, petting farm, balloon clown, DJ, face painting, silent auction, BBQ, birthday cake and of course fireworks!! Plan to join us and invite others to attend!

WINNIPEG BEACH – July 1, 1pm to 11pm

Winnipeg Beach will be having a family fun day starting at 1pm and ending with FIREWORKS at 11pm. 1-5pm Horse drawn wagon rides 1-5pm Inflatable jumpers at the bandstand 1-3pm Free face painting 2-4pm Lakeside Lions Family Fun Day 7pm Welcoming 7-10:30pm Ricky Bogart & the New Casbah Band 11pm FIREWORKS…

ST NORBERT FARMERS MARKET – July 1, 3pm to dusk

3:00 pm – Market opens

4:00 pm – Family entertainment right through to dusk

Dusk – Fireworks!
