Premier Wab Kinew announced today that a by-election will be held on Tuesday, June 18, for the provincial constituency of Tuxedo. The seat became vacant following the resignation of former MLA Heather Stefanson on May 6.
The necessary documents for the by-election were signed and issued today, setting the wheels in motion for the upcoming vote. The chief electoral officer will be issuing an additional press release in the coming days, which will provide further details on polling times, locations, and the dates and locations of advance polls.
The current composition of the Manitoba legislature includes 34 New Democrats, 21 Progressive Conservatives, one independent Liberal, and one vacant seat.
