BUSTED | COPS STOP TAXI FOR TRAFFIC ACT INFRACTION, SEIZE WEAPONS AND COCAINE

On July 8, 2016, at approximately 10:30 p.m., general patrol officers performed a traffic stop on a taxi cab in area of McGregor Street and Pritchard Avenue as a result of a Highway Traffic Act infraction. When the cab stopped the front passenger fled from the vehicle.

This male was arrested after a brief foot pursuit. The rear passenger was also detained. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the following items being seized:

  •  6 rocks of crack cocaine (value $120)
  •  $1,290 in cash
  •  Sawed-off shotgun
  •  Shotgun ammunition

   Jason Scott WOODHOUSE,22-years of Winnipeg, was charged with:

  •  6 firearms and weapons related offences
  •  Possess Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  •  Possess Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime
  •  Fail to Comply Conditions of Recognizance x 5

   Mark Alexander YOUNG, 21-years, of Winnipeg, was charged with:

  •  7 firearms and weapons related offences
  •  Possess Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  •  Possess Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime
  •  Fail to with Probation Order x 2
  •  Warrant of Arrest (Suspension of Parole/Statutory Release)

   Both accused were remanded into custody.
