BUSINESS | WINNIPEG HOME PRICES UP ACCORDING TO SURVEY

According to a price survey conducted by Royal LePage the average aggregate price of a home in Winnipeg has increased by 2.3% to $291,426.

If you break down those numbers by house type the average price of a two-story home increased 4.7% to $322,313. Bungalow prices a third of a percentage point increase to $271,427. Condo prices plummeted 5% to $212,067 during the third quarter of 2016.

“The aggregate numbers in Winnipeg speak to the real estate market overall,” said Michael Froese, broker and managing partner, Royal LePage Prime Realty.  “We’re seeing a decrease in inventory and prices have held steady.  With interests rates still low, Winnipeg is one of Canada’s most affordable cities.”

Nationally, Canada’s residential real estate market continued to grow in the third quarter of 2016, posting a 12.0 per cent year-over-year aggregate house price increase to $545,414.  The price of a two-storey home rose 13.7 per cent year-over-year to $649,635, and the price of a bungalow increased 11.0 per cent to $459,481. During the same period, the price of a condominium increased 5.8 per cent to $360,679
