The state of New Jersey has put a contract for new Motor Coach Industries (MCI) busses on hold due to a financial crisis.
Moror Coach was purchased in 2015 by New Flyer.
MCI had received an order in May to produce 142 new coaches in 2016 and up tp 1200 by 2022. The project was put on hold after state legislators could not come to a deal regarding gas and sales taxes.
New Jersey Transit informed New Flyer about the state’s financial state of emergency and has ordered an orderly shutdown of all work related to the bus contract.
