Three sent to hospital after a transit bus and a car collided

Winnipeg Police are investigating a collision that happened just before 4:00 am on Friday, February 23, 2018.

According to police it happened at Goulet Street and Traverse Avenue.

The bus was travelling west on Goulet and had the right-of-way when it was hit by a car travelling northbound on Traverse.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital in critical condition. The driver of the bus and a passenger were also taken to hospital in stable condition.

Police say that alcohol likely played a role in the crash.

The 23-year-old driver of the car has been upgraded to stable condition and police say he is facing a number of charges relating to the collision including Driving While Ability Impaired, Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample – Blood and Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle.

He was released on a promise to appear.
