Building destroyed in Manahan Avenue fire

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a fire in a two-storey building in the 1200 block of Manahan Avenue around 9:30 am on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.

Heavy smoke was spewing from the building as firefighters arrived on the scene. Crews launched a defensive attack due to unsafe structural conditions of the building. An aerial ladder and landlines were used to battle the blaze. The fire was declared under control minutes after 2:00 pm.

No one was inside the building at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

The building is expected to be a total loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Earlier this month another building in the same block suffered extensive damage during a major fire. The cause of that fire is also under investigation.
