Traffic stop on Broadway leads to drug trafficking charges

Two people are behind bars after officers from the Guns and Gangs Unit made a traffic stop early Saturday morning, November 16, 2019.

According to police, they made the stop around 1:30 am in the 600 block of Broadway. The 40-year-old female driver of the vehicle was wanted for failing to comply with a court order. The 39-year-old male passenger had two outstanding warrants.

Police searched the female and found 34 grams of Methamphetamine in her purse. When officers searched the vehicle they found a safe containing more than 580 grams of Methamphetamine, 27 Xanax pills, 27 Ritalin pills, 2 grams of Cocaine, $241 in cash, Drug packaging materials and scales.

Lisa Mischelle Strykiwsky and Lawrence Herve Chevrefils, both from Winnipeg are facing a number of drug trafficking charges as well as possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by crime for their alleged involvement.

Both suspects were detained in custody.
