Second Degree Murder charges have been laid against a 19-year-old male in connection to the shooting of Austin Chief.

Chief was shot in the 600 block of Broadway at approximately 5:00 am on June 12, 2022. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition but did not survive his injuries.

Police say that a suspect was identified during the investigation and officers located him at the Manitoba Youth Centre where he was being lodged and placed him under arrest.

Denzel Seth Wood, of Winnipeg, was charged for his alleged involvement and remains in custody.
