Rail bridge collapses derailing train near La Salle

Just before 3:00 pm on Tuesday July 30, 2019, a rail bridge collapsed about 2 kilometres south of La Salle causing several cars on a CP freight train to derail.

Police say that there were no injuries reported.

CP Rail says the train was carrying vegetable oil and there are no public safety issues related to the accident.

Highway 330 was closed between Roads 42N and 46N as crews remove the damaged rolling stock.

The investigation falls under the jurisdiction of CP Rail Police and they continue to investigate.
