While investigating a shooting officers nab break-in suspect

While following up on a shooting in the 500 block of Langside Street the day before officers from the Major Crimes Unit were flagged down and told that two men were seen putting on gloves and masks in the rear of the property.

The officers walked to the back of the property and watched the two males. One of the men had concealed his face and was armed with the shaft of a golf club while carrying a duffle bag. The other was sitting on a bicycle.

As soon as they say the officers both suspect took off. Police gave chase.

While in foot pursuit the officers noticed the male with the golf club shaft pulled out a kitchen knife. He refused to drop the weapons and continued to run from officers. Eventually, he dropped both weapons which police seized.

The suspect was arrested in the 400 block of Young Street.

Police say the duffle bag contained a number of break-in tools.

Kordic Alfred Constant, 25 from Winnipeg was charged for his alleged involvement with Possession of a Weapon, Possession of Break-in Instruments and Fail to Comply Condition of Recognizance.

He wad detained in custody.
