Winnipeg Police have a 27-year-old male in custody after officers were called to a possible break-in on Beverley Street on Saturday night, 2022.
Officers were called to the scene and Air-1 was the first to arrive. The eye in the sky spotted the suspect walking away from a house and directed ground crews towards him. The suspect ran from the officers and tried to discard two duffle bags. He was quickly taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.
Police say that the suspect tried to give offices a fake name but police quickly saw that ruse and were able to identify him. A search of the duffle bags uncovered an axe, zip gun and break-in tools.
Jimmy James Linklater has been charged for his alleged involvement with two counts off Possession of a Weapon, Possession of Break-in Instruments, Identity Fraud – Intent to Avoid Arrest, Prosecution or Obstruct Justice and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
Police also process the accused on two outstanding warrants for Robbery, Possession of a Weapon and Unlawfully at Large.
Linklater was detained in custody.
