Man breaks in to old police headquarters, sets off alarms, gets arrested

Around 8:15 pm on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, a 34-year-old male broke into the former Winnipeg Police Headquarters at 151 Princess Street.

Although the building is vacant after police moved to their new headquarters it is still heavily alarmed. Police were notified immediately after the break-in.

Officers from the Tactical Support Team conducted a search of the building and found the suspect wandering inside. He was taken into custody without incident.

As he was being processed police learned that the suspect was wanted on a previous arrest warrant involving a stolen vehicle from the RM of Springfield in November 2016.

34-year-old Wesley Manford Wadien from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with Break & Enter with Intent – Place, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 and two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

He was detained in custody.
